What is Memory Care?
A Memory Care community is one that specializes in dementia-related diseases. These types of facilities often offer Alzheimer’s and dementia-specific care for seniors who are no longer able to advocate for themselves. These seniors are often in need of assistance with day-to-day activities as a result of their Alzheimer’s disease or other cognitive impairments. This round-the-clock care is provided by specially trained staff who specialize in Alzheimer’s disease and memory impairment care.
True memory care communities are usually architecturally designed for Alzheimer’s residents (lighting, closets, etc.), as well as offering a secured environment with constant monitoring to keep residents safe.
Memory care staff aide residents and families continue a quality lifestyle through structured daily schedules, programs, classes, and other activities.
